Line Device Installation
Safer, faster, smarter powerline device installation by drone — no outages, no climbers, no helicopter crews.
Turnkey UAV-based installation of bird diverters, line markers, aerial warning spheres, and other devices directly onto energised powerlines using our proprietary AeroClip and AeroTorq tools.
UAV-based powerline device installation is the original RatssTech speciality — and the discipline that drives most of our engineering output. We deliver complete installation programs for utilities, contractors, and asset owners across Australia: scoping, mobilisation, installation, and documentation — all by a small ground crew using our own purpose-built aerial tools.
The outcome for asset owners is the same as traditional methods — devices in place, certified, documented — at a fraction of the time, cost, and safety exposure.
What you get.
Zero outage required
Installations performed on live, energised lines — no shutdowns, no service interruption, no lost revenue.
Massively reduced safety exposure
No human climbers, no helicopter crews, no working-at-height risk. Pilots stay safely on the ground.
Faster project delivery
A drone installs in minutes what traditional methods take hours to complete. Project schedules collapse.
Lower cost per installation
No rolling stock, no road closures, no helicopter charter. Just a drone, an operator, and a result.
How we work.
- 01
Site assessment
We review the line corridor, marker requirements, access, and airspace. CASA approvals are secured where needed.
- 02
Mobilisation
Crew, drone platforms, AeroClip / AeroTorq tools, and the wireless RTK base ship to site.
- 03
Installation
A two-person crew — pilot and spotter — installs devices span-by-span, working from a safe ground position.
- 04
Documentation
Every installation is logged with GPS coordinates, photographs, and asset-management metadata for handover.
Where this service fits.
- Bird diverter campaigns on transmission corridors
- RotaMarka rollouts on distribution networks
- Aerial warning sphere installation near aerodromes
- Coastal and estuarine line marking
- Inaccessible alpine, tropical, and remote spans
